Prof

Image
You need to check out Prof if you haven't yet. He rips the mic. Smooth n fast n hucking filarous. Seriously, it's party music with an edge. This ain't 50 Cent or Lil Wayne . Best way to checking him out? Free download to Prof and St. Paul Slim's  album Recession Music . I'm partial to  Horses in Ghetto , My Heart Remix , Demons Remix, Rocketman  and Superstyle . Anyway you slice it, he's legit. Go spend a couple dollars to see him next time he rolls through your town.

Rainbow lollipop

Image
This made my morning. Posted on Facebook by my comrade Ross Rushin . To quote her: "That's a dude in his 50's getting on my flight. He's carrying a huge rainbow lollipop." I'll let the image speak for itself. Enjoy.

Release

Push the door shut, but watch your fingers. By the by, this is off of Atmosphere's new album " The Family Sign " which releases today, April. 12. You can buy the album today through your local record store, including the Fifth Element in MSP or The Electric Fetus , as well as places like iTunes or Amazon . Great tunes on this album, go spin em n let those beats flow. I am excited to scrape together a couple some nickels and pick this album up. I like the mellow sound, the laid back grooves, the aging of Atmosphere. Maybe it's because it goes along with my own old age. Or maybe it's because I've never been real fond of frantic rap anyway. A good beat and a smooth rhyme have always gone a long way in my book. Slug n Ant have always been top shelf with with. Enjoy.

Dracula's Lament

It's getting kind of hard to believe things are going to get better I've been drowning too long to believe that the tide's going to turn And I've been living too hard to believe that things are going to get easier now I'm still trying to shake off the pain of the lessons I've learned It's a bit of a ridiculous song, I get it. But, for some reason I find it incredibly sweet. If 7 Seconds and Lionel Richie made a love song baby, it would be something like this. Short, to the point and sweet, tinted by a bit of sadness. Go ahead, mock me openly and call me names. I don't care. This is my version of a love song. Enjoy.

Friends

"The friend is the man who knows all about you, and still likes you" -Elbert Hubbard, The Notebook That quote above hammers home feelings that are incredibly true for me. The people who I am fortunate enough to call my friends still like me, despite knowing all sorts of things about me. They still like me even though they know I ran my sister over with a sled when I was a kid. They still like me despite the fact that I'm in a 12-step program. Hell, they still like me even if it takes them over a month of leaving me voice mails before I finally call back. The simple fact about friends, is this, I may not talk to them often, but I know they are out there and I care about them. Hell, I LOVE them. It will never cease to amaze me how a bit of conversation with a friend can re-adjust my perspective on things. For my friends and the perspective they provide, I am grateful beyond words. Thank you.
