So my good friend TM's daughter Arielle just signed with Intense BMX. Thought I'd share the love cause, well, that's a pretty cool thing. Other than that, I don't have much. Mentally I started training for the Apple this week . Physically started the training as well. Yesterday I spent and hour on the trainer and did a 5K run. I'm giving myself a bit of time to ease into it, but just the same, I want to be ready. Not sure what if any expectations I have for myself in this event other than, I'm going to go out there and try and give it my best. Oh...I did almost forget to add this again...but I'm pretty excited because I have a new Madone coming my way soon. A frameset, not a complete bike, but that's more than ok with me. Thanks Ronnie James for that. I appreciate the love man. Alright, time to fire up a breakfast burrito and get on with getting on. Xs n Os

Conspiracy theory

I have a conspiracy theory for you. Brett Favre mailed in the 2007 NFC championship game against the Giants . He wanted out of Green Ba y and he decided enough was enough. I'm telling you, this thing has legs . I very distinctly remember him during that game. He looked miserable, he looked like he wanted out. Like he was sick of playing in the cold. And ...its not a stretch to think he was sick of playing for the Packers (and Ted Thompson ). Spread the word! Another conspiracy theory I just heard (thanks Chad!). "Much like the Apollo moon landing, which we all know was fake, Favre's "arrival" in Minnesota is simply a product of trick photography perpetuated by the NFL to drum up fan interest in Minnesota so a stadium is built in Minneapolis and the league can capture an expansion fee bounty in LA"   ... Here's a link dump for ya. Haven't had a good link dump, but this one is pretty great. Enjoy. - Pull Tabs aren't just for cans any ...

Yer so skinny yer eyes are single file

Thanks for setting the record straight Mr. T.

I should

Maybe post something new...cause I haven't for a while, but frankly I haven't felt like I want to. Not in a bad way. Just  busy with life. Busy living. Overall things are well. Just busy. I'm glad its not a -100F anymore. The feels good. Literally. Hope you are well. Xs n Os

Christmas Treats

Image
One of my gifts this year was a number of Asian treats from my (soon to be official) Canadian brother Travis and his Canadian wife Kerry. I have tried the chocolate Pocky's and the Pineapple cakes. Both pretty good. I suspect the strawberry Pocky's will be just like the chocolate version, only a different flavor. My favorite thing is that the pineapple cakes are vegetarian. Great. The one's I'm very curious about still are the Keo Me tamarind candy. I'm not sure what to make of them, but when I find out, I'll let you know. Just thought I'd share. Thanks Travis n Kerry. I look forward to more Asian treats from you in the future. Xs n Os

Robert Ney the Snowshoe Guy

Image
I hit up Robert Ney Memorial Park Reserve today. Not too far from my place, maybe about 15 minutes away. Nice little stretch of land. Had a great swowshoe hike there. Went out for about two hours. Glad I grabbed the Petzl Tikka on the way out the door cause about 3/4 of the way around my three-mile loop it was dark.  And dang if the temp didn't drop fast. At that point I pulled off the snowshoes, and just hiked the trail out to the parking lot. It is very beautiful back there and I dig it. Alot. I will be going back there again for sure to do some hiking and I think once spring rolls around I'll trip out there for a run. There are some hills out there at least and some nice scenery. A run is always better with scenery than with just concrete n cars. I had grand plans for a bit post, but then, not so much. Hope you are well. Xs n Os kids.

Hoth

Image
Yep, its that time of the year again. The time of the year where I no longer live in a pleasant world, but rather an icy and bitter cold world, not dis-unlike that of the ice planet Hoth . Yes, I'm a nerd. Deal with it. Its -8F at the moment, with a wind chill of -21F.  Our low tonight is projected to be -20F and the high tomorrow is -3F. Though, it doesn't look like it'll hang around all that long. We'll have double digit high temps by Wednesday again. ... Past plans of buying a new bike have been put on hold. For the time being. With that said, I think I may try to see if I can't put a few pennies together and try to find a used Fox G2 fork. Or maybe even a Rockshox. Something to change the front end on the Fisher. ... Decided now is the time to do my yearly reading of the book "A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" If you haven't read this bike, I would certainly recommend it. Not only is it such a simple and great read, but it provides...
